In the course of Basamro Youth Chess Tournament a match will be played by the two chess legends – the 12th world champion Anatoly Karpov and one of the leading western grandmasters of the 1970-1980’s Jan Timman.
4 games of classical chess with unusual time limit will be played: 2 hours for 40 moves (without increment) followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with 30 seconds incremented each move.
The match will be played in the Chimney Hall of the Park Inn hotel on October 6-9: 1 game each day.
In addition to the match, the grandmasters as the honourary guests will take part in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of Basamro Tournament.
Currently, the two legendary grandmasters have played 99 official games of classical chess. Symbolically, their 100th game will take place in Murmansk on its centenary!
